Dreams Don't Exist

What's your dream job? If you could do any job what would it be? Let me tell you about the one thing you can do to dramatically change your life. Seriously, as soon as I realised this and thought it through it completely transformed the way I think of things and achieve them.

If you have a dream job a dream income, a dream lifestyle then you can almost guarantee that you'll never achieve it. Like a boy in the classroom dreaming of lunch, like the dreams you have of flying through the air - dreams are figments of your imagination - they are intangible fantasies who live in the realm of your subconscious and can never be achieved.

The simple change I made was to stop calling things 'Dreams' and call them my goals, the things I wanted. This takes them from the realm of fantasy in tot he real, tangible world where they can be achieved.

Try it and I am certain you will be surprised at just how much this transforms the way you achieve your desires.

The Summit is in Sight

Do you want to get more done? Do you have projects, ambitions and dreams that you feel you will never achieve, they;re just taking too long to flourish? I was speaking to a mentoring client just last night about one of the ideas I posted here - writing a book to position yourself as the expert in the field, the discussion quickly turned to the fact that it would take a heck of a long time to write an entire book. Yes, it will take a long, long, LONG time to write a book if that is your belief.

What you believe, your inner feelings are usually the only things that are holding you back from achioeving what you want, when you want it. So instead of saying 'it will take me ages to get there' why not set a date, why give it a sense of urgency by giving yourself a deadline.

As soon as you set targets then you will begin to achieve things - without targets and cut off times nothing will ever get done. So if you're writing a book - commit to a certain number of pages, chapters of sections each day or week. If you want to expand your business by 20%, then write down when it is you want to have done that by.

You see the moment you put a date on anything you will see that summit coming closer and closer and you will be motivated to take action, and often as the date creeps within inches the you will take extreme action and do your best work. This is the way some of the world's top entrepreneurs achieve their goals and put out so much incredible work.
